KCM On Balance – December 2023

Along with festivities, December is often a time of reflection and planning. As the year ends, we encourage you to celebrate successes—financial and otherwise—and think about your objectives for the coming year.

In the spirit of the season, we wish you all the best for a prosperous and joyous December.

Recent economic data suggest the economy is slowing, as U.S. consumer spending, inflation, and the labor market have all cooled. In addition, inflation has significantly slowed down this year, suggesting that the Fed may end its interest rate increases.

Consensus opinion points to a slowdown in the economy and inflation in 2024; however, it’s important to note that these predictions may not necessarily turn out to be accurate and they’re more often wrong than right.

Successfully predicting economic events and market responses is a challenging task. Investors are better off building portfolios based on long-standing empirical evidence rather than relying on speculative predictions.

Wishing you a season filled with joy, health, and happiness.
